Curfew

In some areas of the US, a 'curfew' is imposed, in which teenagers are not allowed to be out of doors after a particular time at night unless they are accompanied by an adult. What is your opinion about this?

In some societies going out is not permitted for young people at specific time after sunset unless they are supervised. Usually the curfews start late at night, such as 11pm, until dawn, 6am. There are two main driving reasons for a federal, state or local  government to enact a curfew in some states or cities in the US. The desire to reduce the amount of juvenile crime in certain areas, as well as protect youth from danger in areas with high crime.

In some areas teenage crime is commonplace, and in order to try and minimize the amount of crime and disturbance that is caused, governments enact a curfew to prevent  teens from roaming the city, or neighborhood streets, at certain times. Also depending on the location, potential hazards for teens can increase at night. For example most city centers become full of drunk people walking the  streets on a Friday night. This fact worries parents who want to keep their kids safe and avoid any potential confrontation or violence. Because of this it is easy to see why a 'curfew' has garnered support.

On the other hand, constant control and oversight from adults might be annoying  for a teenager. Just imagine if you were a teen and had a date and it would be compulsory to have a parent accompany you after a certain time. It makes a date impossible. As a result a kid might feel he or she is not socialized enough or feel like they are being treated as if they are not mature enough. Therefore, it is clear that a curfew might bring negative effects on teen’s private life.

I strongly believe that excessive control is dead end in children education. It can have an strong negative impact on physiological health of teenager to implant false statement that he or she is not fully responsible for their life. These effects typically also carry on into adult life.. So as a result of too much care, a kid can grow up without the confidence to tackle real life.

In summary, both sides of argument regarding a curfew for teenagers strong arguments. However, negative aspects of children over control will forever be stronger than the positive ones. It is important to educate both teens and parents to be more responsible for the actions and keep in mind that one mistake can change the future forever.
